Do we suport the leaders whom we believe will put into practice what
Jesus taught…..or do we, in fact, walk away from them because they
might interfere with our personal “lifestyles.”
About 4 or 5 years ago, I turned on the TV news and A week
later, I was astonished to learn that the country voted for
the candidate promising a tax increase. So extraordinary was the result
that a
U.S. network sent a reporter to interview the citizens. I will never
forget the comments: “How could I sleep at night if I knew someone was
denied health care because of my vote?” “Healthcare, certainly as important as education, should never be denied to anyone.” Voting for tax increases to assure the poor would be taken care of in the same How many Christians have walked away from Please view:

in the midst of an election. Their healthcare system required
additional funds.

Think About It……
Shouldn’t we be preaching what Jesus taught? Or are we, clergy, afraid that too many of our congregants would walk away?

I wonder what would Jesus say about the condition of so many children in the wealthiest nation in the world?

Perhaps we need to reconsider our values. Look at this video on the happiest country in the world. It certainly appears that this nation that claims an extremely low church attendance, seems to be living many of the principles that Jesus taught……and loving it! This is the country that voted to increase taxes for all its citizens! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTGKUwMegZ4
As of 7/10/09, the U.S. ranks 50th in life expectancy according to the CIA Factbook, just above Albania. I read on the Cisco blog: “Universal health care is health care coverage that is extended to all eligible residents of a governmental region and often covers medical, dental, and mental health care. These programs vary in their structure and funding mechanisms. Typically, most costs are met via a single-payer health care system or national health insurance, or else by compulsory regulated pluralist insurance (public, private or mutual) meeting certain regulated standards. Universal health care is implemented in all but one of the wealthy, industrialized countries, with the exception being the United States. It is also provided in many developing countries and is the trend worldwide. Why is it that the USA, where 87% claim Christian affiliation, can't afford healthcare for Americans and Cuba, Peru, Mexico, and every industrialized nation in the world can?”
